Challenges and other stuff

I have made some bad decisions-- well, really, counting chickens before they hatched.   And when they failed to hatch, some things went downhill.  Blah!

My sweet kitten died from a blood disease:(

I got a dog that I'd owned previously back into my life; she's old but I'm so glad she's here:)

Three weeks for spring break. Yay!

So I teach only on Fridays.  Long day but I get to be lazy Monday through Thursday afternoon when I start preparing for class.  But spring break is next week and then we're off for Good Friday (although it's called Spring Holiday) and then another week until I go back.

I plan to read.

Read.

And read some more.

Changing my life up

Have given notice that I will not be back for another semester of teaching.

Was afraid.  Like the security of a /the job, ha ha, and the money's good but there's something else I want to do and I'm going to pursue that.  A little fearful but I'm excited for the change and the challenge.

I'm no Beyonce fan

but really some white folks are getting a little crazy about that video/Superbowl performance.  Asking for police accountability does not equal hating the police.  Despite some racist encounters I've had with the police, I still recognize that 1 bad apple does not represent the bushel.  Anyway, it was entertainment.

Personally, I think she's an opportunist-- Black Lives Matter has been around for a minute, no? But really, stop shooting us.

Black History Month--Octavia Butler knew the power of affirmative words

This is why it's important for children to know how to use words. They have tremendous power.

Black History Month--Do You Know Who Diane Nash Is?

Had the honor of meeting her in Nashville.  Amazing woman.  Had not heard of her until I visited the Civil Rights Room in the city library.  Disappointed to learn that many did not know who she was.
